The setting was quintessential New York: a midtown penthouse loft, freshly painted white from floor to ceiling, overlooking the Hudson River.

Replete with conservation-minded luminaries, including Susan Sarandon, who graciously posed for pictures with star-struck band members, attendees were treated to a moving address by Mr. Kennedy.

The band followed, and a great time was had by all.
